Completed in 2001, the Kingsbury Substation was a design/build project consisting of a multi-story 138/13.2-kV substation completely enclosed and located in a heavily congested area of Chicago. Services provided ranged from quality control inspections, to field engineering of constructability solutions, to overall project & contractor management. The building is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment including four 30/40/50-MVA 138-13.2kV transformers, 68 cubicles of 13.2 kV, 750MVA metal-clad switchgear, two 13.2 kV ring buses, HVAC equipment, and AC and DC distribution panels. This project was the first of a series of key reliability improvement projects for the City of Chicago.
